Wow, I am appalled to read that you people are not doing your jobs because of the play offs! I have been working in the restaurant business for ten years and for the past three years I have not called into work for any reason, sick, tired, emergencies, I always found a way to get my job done. It is this kind of mentality that we find our country in such disarray. It saddens me that this is an excepted excuse, and makes me wonder how your superiors could go for it. What I thought was a reputable publication, I am starting to think that I was wrong. You people should be ashamed of yourselves, and I hope that which ever team that you are routing for gets humiliated, and never makes it past the first round. GROW UP!
maybe it was a slow week for GOSSIP and they had nothing else to write about and thought "hey...yeah playoffs, we'll blame it on the playoffs".... instead of INTERVIEWING or RESEARCHING or gosh forbid writing something thoughtful or creative on the restaurant scene. I think people at CM should realize they're looking more and more like a rag, and less like a major cities magazine.
To 12:44 and 7:15 (aka douche bag #1 and douche bag #2)--
Since when does a week without blogging equal moral degeneracy and shabby provincialism? Get over it.
Keep up the good work Dish. You deserve a week off.
To 12:19
You can't use the phrase "douche bag" and expect to be taken seriously. There is a major restaurant "reviewing" site where this phrase is well suited--you should check it out.
It is surprising though that an entire column can be put on hold because of a baseball game.
Douche Bag #2 here... first, I can't believe the name calling-how rude! LA & Boston's magazine didn't take week off...and THEIR still in the playoffs! Second, have you ever seen Pollack &/or Ruby? They hardly look like the baseball type!
It's 12:19--
To 9:13-- You're right, oh so right. Sorry for not being classy enough. Now will you take me seriously?? Please?? I need your approval. (Just kidding, you douche bag.)
To 7:15/11:36-- Sorry for being rude. Anonymous commenting always brings out the douche bag in me.
Glad this column brings out the passion in everyone. Who knew that taking a week off would draw more comments than our average column?
Just so you know - the baseball game wasn't the reason we took the week off. Penny and I were both out of the office for much of the week, because of Rosh Hashana. We thought the baseball thing was a funnier excuse. Didn't realize it would be taken literally. I love baseball, but come on - you think my bosses would let me take a week off because two Chicago teams made the playoffs? That's ridiculous.
And hey, just out of curiosity, What does a "baseball type" look like?
Best,
Jeff
